Daryle Dickens

Hello and Welcome! I’ve created this page as an introduction for all the social media profile links I have out there. I want to get to know you a bit better so I thought I would start by allowing you to know me a bit better.

My name is Daryle Dickens and I am a protagonist in a story about saving the world.

What do I mean by that?

“A protagonist in a story about saving the world” is what I aspire to be and making  the statement publicly helps to always remind me of that aspiration. It has become both my motto and my mantra.

The main character of a story is considered a protagonist and I believe the story of the human race needs more protagonists. Sadly many of us are not the main character in our own lives. Too many have taken on the role of the deuteragonist or the tritagonist, the 2nd and 3rd characters in a story. I for one want to be the protagonist in my life’s story and I want my life’s story to be about saving the world.

Now I know that “saving the world” conjures up images of a villain threatening the world with nuclear weapons and a hero rushing in to thwart the villain’s plan thus saving the world. That makes for a great summer blockbuster but it never really works like that in real life does it?

How to save the world?

For us non fictional characters saving the world usually comes down to simple acts of caring enough to help each other out. Of looking a bit beyond ourselves to see what needs the people around us have and finding the courage it takes to act and help them out no matter what our culture, our society, or our peers think. For me saving the world is about saving people.

Everyone on planet earth is carrying around with them 2 things, pain and potential. Recognizing that is the first step to saving the world.

There you have it. That is about the briefest way I can sum up what I mean when I say I am a protagonist in a story about saving the world. The thoughts and ideas around this concept are still forming and I’ll be sharing more as they come because this is a big story. A saga. And it needs all the protagonists we can muster.

Still want to know more about me?

I live in Colorado with my wife Joyce, two Felis catus, and a Eublepharis macularius. I also believe that people should live to create and that belief means I have a lot of projects going in various stages all the time. (That way I am always creating.)  Here are just some of them:

This site you are on now, DaryleDickens.com, is my online headquarters and I use it to publish content that has to do with marketing a business using WordPress and social media. I believe that WordPress gives people great power to communicate their thoughts and ideas to the world. “Power of the press” is now in everyone’s hands and I want to do what I can to help people learn WordPress. I believe doing this addresses both people’s pain (understanding a technology new to them) and their potential (growing a business).

My long time project and the one launched my career working on the internet is Art Palaver. It started as a companion blog for an old webzine of mine called ZAF622 but it grew into a well read blog that taught artists and creative types how to market and promote themselves online.

I also wanted to mention my personal blog di.ckens.com were I share random photos and musings from my life that I can’t fit anywhere else online. I also began using it as a way to archive photos and memories from my life so far.

You can send me a message via my contact page here. Find me on Twitter and or Facebook. And if you must this is my LinkedIn page.

Please do connect with me, together we can save the world!

You’re still here? It’s over. Go home. Go.
